Baader: Data-based development of modular systems

Data-based development of modular systems: With the new modular processing center, BAADER integrates a wide range of new technologies and innovative image processing to take automation and yield in fish processing to a new level. The modularity of the machine is an important success factor in order to map a wide range of customer processes and enable upgrades at the customer’s premises. Baader has been using Cquenz since the start of the project to keep an eye on the various design variants during development.

Demonstrate the effect of the modular system in advance

Cquenz enables to make the right technical decisions in order to generate the most benefits across all variants. In order to define the right modularizition for an efficient order fulfillment process, various variant formation points in the supply chain are shown and evaluated using lot size simulations with Cquenz. In this way, the course for a lean process can be set much earlier in the supply chain than before. To this end, the team at Baader, with the support of Sales, set up lot size scenarios, simulated these using the possible module cuts in Cquenz and visualized them for discussion with the supply chain team.

To actually leverage targeted potential

The end-to-end data-based work has been met with enthusiasm. “We demonstrated the potential of a modular structure for the first time at an early stage and transferred it to the supply chain,” reports project manager Hannes Scherbarth at the Industry Forum 2024. ‘Once you start working in a data-based way, you automatically become more professional,’ adds Felix Strangmann, Head of Project Management at Baader, ”we have now also implemented a data-based sales forecast with the support of Odego and developed many ideas for further expanding and using the data analytics structures that have been created.”

Achieving development success

Data-based development of modular systems – achieve a better product faster. 2 million € more turnover, up to 60% less hours of development and design work, 15 weeks faster delivery. Those who work consistently data-based will leverage the important potential from sales to the supply chain – our customers such as Eppendorf, WAS Ambulanzfahrzeuge and SMB report on this personally and practically.
